Spotlight: Ronald McDonald House

Each Tuesday afternoon, MTM Education, Training and Outreach Coordinator Joyce Witzke serves as the hostess for MetroHealth Medical Center’s beautiful Ronald McDonald Suite in Cleveland. The suite is available to families of all pediatric patients: NICU, PICU, Labor & Delivery, Burn Unit, and Pediatric Step-Down. Although no day is typical, responsibilities of the hostess may include registering new families, preparing food, keeping the suite tidy, sterilizing toys, checking out books, assisting with computer usage, arranging transportation, setting up overnight stays at the Ronald McDonald House, and lending a sympathetic ear. Dealing with a child’s illness can be a traumatic experience, but the Ronald McDonald Suite offers a place for respite and refreshment. Time and again, families express their appreciation for the hospital providing this “home away from home.” MTM is proud to be a part of that healing process through Joyce!
