MTM Giving Contributes $10,000 to NICA

MTM Giving, our formal philanthropic program, is continuing to make contributions to the communities we serve. Our latest benefactor is the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, or NICA, whose mission is to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling.

MTM Giving supports organizations that tie in with our program’s mission: empowering our team members to engage in their community and support philanthropic causes, with a focus on diversity, wellness, and our youth. We asked our employees to nominate organizations they personally support, and using those nominations we selected charities that align with our mission. Thank you to our Director of Wellness & Benefits Chris Mileski for nominating NICA! We were proud to support the organization with a $10,000 donation that will help to get the newly formed Missouri chapter up and running.

Founded in 2009 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, NICA develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes and coaches across the United States. Currently, NICA has 25 state and regional leagues, and more than 9,000 volunteer coaches who work annually with 19,000 student-athletes from nearly 1,000 high schools and middle schools throughout the country.

Recently, members of the NICA-MO Founding Committee traveled throughout the state looking for potential race sites. The tour started in Wentzville at Indian Camp Creek, where MTM Giving presented NICA with their check, and ended at Legacy Park in Kansas City. The MTM Giving donation will be used to purchase bikes and helmets for kids who lack proper equipment, fund a scholarship program to give underserved kids access to league programs, and help fund Girls Riding Together (GRiT). GRiT is a nationwide initiative by NICA to increase female student-athlete and coach participation rates in league programs by 10% by 2023.
