MTM Joins Nevada Homeless Alliance for Project Homeless Connect
At MTM, our mission extends beyond just providing transportation—we strive to empower communities by connecting them to essential resources and opportunities. That commitment was on full display at a recent Nevada Homeless Alliance (NHA) Project Homeless Connect event, held at the East Las Vegas Library.
Our Nevada Community Outreach team, led by Community Outreach Trainer Evelyn Miramontes and Travel Trainer Lorenzo Mendez, joined more than 160 participants to share valuable information about Nevada’s Medicaid-funded transportation options. They educated parents on how gas mileage reimbursement can make getting children to medical appointments more manageable, fostering independence and community strength. Attendees also learned about other vital services, including public bus programs—tools that help break down barriers to healthcare access.
In addition to our outreach efforts, the event offered a wide array of critical services from other vendors. Participants could access housing assessments, obtain IDs and birth certificates, receive veteran services, explore medical insurance assistance, and connect with mental health resources, legal aid, and hygiene kits. Events like these showcase the power of collaboration in addressing community needs.
As Brittany Parker from the NHA shared, “While many of us are in the holiday spirit, there are so many others that are facing challenges, insecurities, and heartbreaking barriers during this season. Events like these are so impactful to help bring hope, joy, and services to those that need it the most!”
